When Jack is not editing he writes and directs.

He has been supported by some of the industry’s leading talent development programmes including Berlinale Talents 2023, Channel 4 RI:SE with DANC/Triple C 2022, Cinesud's Talent to Cannes 2022, BFI Flare x BAFTA Crew 2021 and BFI Network Weekender 2019.

Jack is currently part of the ScreenNETS directors program to support him moving into long-form. As part of this he shadowed director Alex Holmes and directed 2nd unit (including cast) on Amazon series The Rig.

They are currently in further development with Screen Scotland with their first feature, Boifriend. It was presented at IFFR's Cinemart 2023. He's also developing his first long-form documentary through the Sheffield Queer Realities Lab (2024-2025).

Three of Jack's shorts screened at BAFTA and Oscar qualifying films around the world: Bouba & Kiki (2019; Glasgow Short Film Festival Production Attic pitch 2018 winner), Everyman (2021) (developed with the Scottish Documentary Institute and RTS award winner) and Who I Am Now (2022) (supported by Creative Scotland). ​​
